Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Grant Farmer Post 992, 102 N. Colville St., are planning a pancake, sausage and eggs breakfast fundraiser from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on May 1.

The cost is a $7 donation, which will benefit the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument expected to be built near the new World War II Monument near Fort Walla Walla Museum, 755 Myra Road.

They will host guest of honor Hershel “Woody” Williams, recipient of a World War II Medal of Honor. He co-founded the Medal of Honor Foundation and is a retired member of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Following at 11 a.m. there will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the Gold Star monument at the site. Hershel will be keynote speaker.

Gold Star families are relatives of U.S. military members who died in service to our nation.
